Eligibility Criteria
To appear for JEE Advanced 2025, candidates must:
- Age Limit: Born on or after October 1, 2000 (5-year relaxation for SC/ST/PwD candidates).
- Educational Qualification: Passed Class 12 (or equivalent) examination in 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- JEE Main Performance: Among the top 2.5 lakh candidates in JEE Main 2025.
- Previous Admissions: Not previously admitted to any IIT under any academic program.)
Note: Candidates who appeared in Class 12 exams for the first time in 2023 or earlier are not eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2025, irrespective of the combination or number of subjects attempted/offered. (jeeadv.ac.in)
Syllabus
The syllabus for JEE Advanced 2025 remains consistent with that of JEE Advanced 2024, encompassing:
- Physics: Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, etc.
- Chemistry: Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry.
- Mathematics: Algebra, Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, Vectors, and 3D Geometry.
Note: There have been no changes to the syllabus for JEE Advanced 2025.
Exam Pattern
- Paper Format: Objective Type (Multiple Choice and Numerical Value Type)
- Duration: 3 hours per paper (4 hours for PwD candidates)
- Marking Scheme:
- +3 marks for each correct answer
- -1 mark for each incorrect answer (in applicable sections)
- 0 marks if no option is selected
- Negative Marking: Applicable for certain sections.

Recent Updates
- New Programs at IIT Delhi: IIT Delhi has introduced new undergraduate programs, including a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry, admitting students based on JEE Advanced 2025 scores.
- Changes in Attempt Limit: The number of attempts for JEE Advanced has been reverted to two consecutive years, as per the Supreme Court’s directive.
